CorasWorks Releases New Version of Project Portfolio Management Application for SharePoint
Version 1.2 Includes New PMO Module and Integration with Microsoft Project
Reston, VA – January 20, 2010 – CorasWorks Corporation, a leading provider of applications and application development software for Microsoft SharePoint, today announced the release of Version 1.2 of its Project Portfolio Management (PPM) application for SharePoint. The application is available for download from the CorasWorks App Store.
The most-downloaded application in the CorasWorks App Store, PPM allows project managers and project teams to manage, track and report on individual projects; create and manage multiple portfolios of projects; and gain visibility, insight and control of all project-related activities through drilldown dashboards and reporting.
Version 1.2 builds on the successes of the previous version by adding a new and robust set of features and modules to the application, including a new Project Management Office (PMO) module and the ability to integrate with Microsoft Project.
The new PMO module provides a framework for overall project governance, from initiation to completion. It governs the initial submission of project proposals, project approval and initiation, and tracking of the progress of the project through completion. It allows organizations to add existing sites or portfolios to the PMO, and it allows the PMO to discover new projects or portfolios across the environment that could be brought under governance.
The integration with Microsoft Project provides for bi-directional synchronization of task information and work breakdown schedules. The feature is based on organizations using Team Directions’ IntelliGantt add-on to MS Project. This new integration feature allows project managers to manage their project plan in Microsoft Project and leverage the deeper feature set for planning projects. The PPM application is then used to perform on the project and govern the overall project environment across SharePoint.
“PPM is our most popular app, and we are committed to continually improving it and all of our apps,” said Dan Naselius, Chief Operating Officer at CorasWorks. “The response to PPM has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have received suggestions on how to make it even better. We’ve taken that feedback and incorporated it into this new version. We are excited to bring these new additions and features out to our customers and the market. The PMO Module and the Microsoft Project integration are powerful tools and add significant value to the application.”
