CorasWorks Launches New App Showcase for SharePoint 2010

App Showcase Replaces App Store as Primary Promotion Vehicle for CorasWorks Solutions

 

Reston, VA – June 16, 2011 – CorasWorks Corporation, a global leader in business solutions and applications on the Microsoft SharePoint collaboration and social platform, today announced the launch of its new App Showcase for SharePoint 2010.  The App Showcase is intended to highlight the solutions from CorasWorks and its partners that leverage CorasWorks software on the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 platform.

 

"Our new App Showcase gives us more flexibility in what we can show and make available to the market in terms of end-user solutions,” said Gary Voight, President and CEO of CorasWorks.  "The App Store provided a solid venue for 'plug and play' apps for the Microsoft SharePoint platform, but we increasingly discovered that our customers want more comprehensive solutions.  With the new App Showcase we will be able to bring new solutions to the market much faster, as it significantly reduces the burden required to get a solution into the Showcase.  This is good for CorasWorks, our partners, our customers and the market in general."

 

While the App Store is being retired in favor of the App Showcase, the majority of items that were available in the App Store will still be available to CorasWorks customers.  Many of the items are now accessible through the CorasWorks Learning Centers or through CorasWorks' private download library.

 

"In addition to the philosophy change from the App Store to the App Showcase, we were also motivated to move away from the App Store name," said Voight.  "We recently received notification from Apple saying we were infringing on their 'App Store' naming rights. We were planning the change to the App Showcase anyway, but the timing was good.  I guess Apple was worried about us."

Some of the solutions currently displayed in the App Showcase include Change Request Management, Help Desk, Knowledge Pool, Department Dashboard and Time Off Management.  More solutions will be added on an ongoing basis.
