Applications of the Toolset

The Data Integration Toolset supports a broad range of applications within the SharePoint environment. A few ways that it is being used are:

  • To display external data in SharePoint
  • To turn SharePoint into a front-end to legacy applications
  • To build new line-of-business database applications utilizing external data sources
  • To build flexible application portals that inter-connect SharePoint data with external data sources
  • To build cross-departmental business processes integrating data and applications from external systems
  • To create composite applications that mash up data from SharePoint and external data sources
  • To create integrated solutions across separate server farms within and between organizations
  • To build applications integrating enterprise and external web services.

Design Patterns – This section covers the base n-tier design patterns that are reused over and over again in the design of applications.

Examples in Breeze Demonstration Environment – Breeze is an online, hands-on demonstration environment. It contains 40 applications and business processes that have been integrated into a broad corporate work environment. This section covers ten solutions built with the Toolset that are available to try out in the Breeze environment.

Solution Accelerators – In working with our customers and third party application vendors, we have pre–integrated the Toolset with these applications to accelerate the integration process.
