Navigation

The Workplace Suite provides a complete set of navigational components to make your SharePoint environment and web-based applications much easier to work with. The navigation is dynamic and data-driven, allowing you to save significant time by not having to constantly add and update hard–wired links. In addition, all of the navigational components “know who you are” and only allow you to see those sites or items you have access to. And, like all CorasWorks components, the navigation components are able to span across multiple sites, site collections, and virtual servers.

Examples of the key navigational components include:

  • Workplace View Advanced™: This web part provides an easy–to–use tree–view navigation for your SharePoint environment. It not only includes all the sites as a specific hierarchy, but can also point to and display hierarchies from across your SharePoint environment. The tree–view navigation also displays common administrative functions, including User Management, Administration, and Lists, so you can access them quickly and easily from any page. This web part also supports Central Configuration.
  • CorasWorks Global Navigation: This navigational web part allows you to create dynamic, navigational menus for your SharePoint sites. It is most commonly used to manage the menu bar at the top of a page. One of the most powerful uses of this web part is to create a global menu for your workplace. When used at the top of each page of your site templates, you can point all of them to a single list in a single location. And if you should need to change the list, all the menus will automatically and immediately update throughout the system.
  • Cascading Navigation: CorasWorks solutions offer cascading navigation – either in the form of cascading menus at the top of the page, along the left side or the more popular, cascading tabs set within the page offering a horizontal view. When you hover over a tab, you will see a cascading menu of available child views. Or when you hover over a child view, you will see another menu level of any available sub–views. The menu(s) can go down as many levels as you wish, depending on how your list(s) are set up. You will only see the menu items from the lists to which you have access.
