CorasWorks Releases Workplace Suite for SharePoint 2007

The CorasWorks Workplace Suite – Winter 2007 for SharePoint 2007 (WSS or MOSS) is now available.  This is the ninth release of the Suite and our first release on the new platform.  Drawing on the experiences of our more than 1,000 customers and their 5,000 workplace builders and architects that support 700,000 users, and leveraging on the capabilities of the new SharePoint platform, we are pleased to present a comprehensive solution that sets a new standard for realizing business value from collaborative technologies.  In this article, we’ll describe the overall feature set of the new Workplace Suite.

Workplace Architecture – Design of Distributed Applications

Up until recently, applications have been pretty much self-contained. Typically, each application has a set of features which are exposed through the interface.  Although access to features can be based on a user profile, you still have to open the application in order to access its features. Through the use of APIs and custom development, web-based applications can provide a limited set of additional features based upon what a user needs to do to get his or her job done. In web development circles this is sometimes referred to as a “mash up.”  But again, in most cases, it requires either custom development or a highly technical degree of configuration.

Workplace Adaptors -- Extending the Reach of Your Workplace
The new Workplace Suite for SharePoint 2007 gives you what you need to design, build, and manage your collaborative workplace that works with information within your SharePoint server farm.  The next step is to start integrating external data sources into the applications within your workplace.  CorasWorks has taken this step with the release of our first two workplace adapters.  They are used to a) integrate data from remote SharePoint server farms, and b) integrate data from Microsoft Project Server.  This article will introduce you to these new extensions of your workplace and provide business scenarios for each.
